The State Security Committee of South Ossetia, together with the Russian border guards, neutralized the attempt to move six boxes (3,000 packs) of tobacco products from the Republic to Georgia, the KGB press service reported on Wednesday.

The department has clarified that the incident occurred on April 20 in the vicinity of the village of Ziuuat, Znaur district.

“In addition, during a personal search, cash totaling 146 thousand rubles and two parcels allegedly containing hemp seeds were found on the detainees,” the Committee has added.

Currently, the KGB is carrying out investigative measures to identify the organizers and accomplices of this illegal activity across the state border.

The KGB has once again warned about criminal liability for smuggling across the state border and once again reminded that all possible areas of illegal activity are in the control zone and sectors of influence of the border forces of South Ossetia.
